The Obsidian HeatShield from Rapid Deployment Shelter is an accessory that can be used with the Obsidian Tent to provide an additional layer of protection from the elements. The HeatShield is designed to be easy to install and remove (typically 1-3 minutes) and is the ideal accessory for summer camping. 

It is made of durable, waterproof, UV-resistant Rip-Stop Nylon designed to withstand extreme weather conditions. It can be used for various situations, such as providing additional protection from the brutal sun in the hot summer months or as a black-out barrier to keep the light out of your tent, turning your shelter into complete darkness for sleeping during the day.

One of the main advantages of Obsidian HeatShield is its ability to increase the tent's thermal efficiency by reducing heat build-up. The provided aluminum poles keep the HeatShield raised above the Obsidian, providing air space around the shelter. This eliminates any direct heat transfer into the tent and allows all four rooftop vent ports of the Obsidian to remain open. This can help make the tent more comfortable and livable in extreme temperatures and reduce the load on your A/C system, saving fuel and additional wear on the compressor.
